The Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) course accredited through the Saudi Heart Association (SHA) portal is an advanced, intensive training program for healthcare practitioners who deal with children and infants in critical situations.
The course uses a hybrid learning model: trainees study the theory on their own online, followed by interactive hands-on simulation sessions to apply the skills in a clinical-like setting.
The Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) course is designed for healthcare practitioners who take part in assessing and delivering live medical care to children and infants in medical emergencies and respiratory or cardiac arrest.
The target groups accredited through the Saudi Heart Association (SHA) portal include:
• Pediatricians: general pediatricians, pediatric intensive care (PICU) and neonatal physicians.
• Emergency physicians: doctors working in hospital emergency departments and handling critical injuries.
• Nursing staff: nurses in emergency departments, pediatric intensive care and critical care units.
• Paramedics and emergency medical services (EMS) teams: staff in field ambulance and rapid response to pediatric cases.
• Respiratory therapists: responsible for supporting and monitoring airway and breathing in children.
• Students of medical and health colleges: final-year students or interns in medical and nursing specialties.
